About
Pathology is my love, but Microbiology is my Passion....
Microbiology is a field that is constantly evolving and never stops challenging minds. I enjoy the investigative nature of microbiology. The act of trying to find the identity of the infectious etiology is what drew me into the field as a microbiology technologist. The advancement of this skill through the vast array of molecular technologies also piqued my interest. Combining these two components with the clinical infectious disease aspect was a combination that lead me into the field of pathology. It was not until I completed a microbiology directorship rotation at Loyola University in Maywood, IL with the late Dr. Paul C. Schreckenberger that my decision was solidified to sub-specialize in Medical Microbiology. When I am faced with any problem in the laboratory, I always think about what he would say during rounds...
"What does the evidence say?"- Dr. Paul C. Schreckenberger
